You think it can’t happen to you, that your kids, your family, will never be in this situation.
I thought that too. But you’re wrong.

She says she needs some help … in the bedroom.
Come again? No, really come again.
Sweet, nerdy, lovable Keaton.
She’s my best friend and has been for years. Sure she likes numbers and math, and thinks doing other people’s taxes is fun. And I like … none of that stuff. Of course I’ll help her. There’s no one better for the job.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to formally announce my resignation from Parker International (& the arrogant, condescending CEO) effective two weeks from today.
This was a VERY EASY decision to make, as the past two years have been utterly miserable. I wish his next executive assistant all the luck in the world (she’ll need it) and if my boss should need me to do anything over the next two weeks, kindly tell him that he can do it [his] goddamn self…
Sincerely (Not Really),
That’s the version of my two weeks’ notice I should’ve sent to my boss, because the more professional version—the one where I said I was “grateful for all the opportunities,” and “honored by all the rewarding experiences” over the years?
That letter was rejected with his sexy, trademark smirk and an “I highly suggest you read the fine print of your contract…”
So, I did.
And now I’ve realized that unless I fake my death, poison him, or find a way to renegotiate my impossible contract, I’m stuck working under one of the cockiest and most ruthless bosses in New York.
Then again, I thought that was the case until he called me late last night with an emergency proposition…

There are some stories that move you SO deeply and SO unexpectedly, that you end up shedding buckets of tears in the end, feeling too much all at once. As I read the last few pages of this beautiful book, I could barely see the words through all my tears, because NOTHING prepared me for the sheer emotion running through this stunning, wrenching, gem of a novel. This is the story of an anonymous epidemic affecting so many families, and one couple’s struggle to save their crumbling marriage from divorce as life continues to deny them the one thing they long for the most. I don’t know how Colleen Hoover manages to create such authentic, heartfelt stories time and time again, leaving us utterly breathless and incoherent in their aftermath, but I do know that this book is one of my absolute favourites. EVER.
Regardless of the genre she chooses to tackle, Sarina Bowen’s superb storytelling prowess never fails to enthral, so it’s no surprise that her Young Adult debut would be something truly special. A perceptive coming-of-age tale that explores the complex entanglements of family, love, and identity on the verge of adulthood, this story felt like a breath of fresh air to me, capturing so vividly the highs and lows of a young woman’s search for truth and affection in the aftermath of a great loss. Some books are love at first read, and this was one of them for me.
I didn’t know how much I had missed Emma Chase’s writing until I caught myself grinning like a fool page after page from how insanely happy this book was making me. The ultimate feel-good read, this second chance romance had it all—humour, sizzle, emotion, characters you can’t help but love—and it didn’t just warm my heart, it made it smile. Chase’s prose is crisp and effortless, her talent as always shining through the brightest in her male point of view, giving us a story that is so delightful, I am recommending it unreservedly to anyone looking for the perfect reading escape.
A tragic but hopeful second chance romance—interwoven with a melancholy tale of stolen dreams and missed opportunities— Adriane Leigh tells the story of two people who find each other after many years apart, and examines the depths of their love for one another by testing the very limits of it. Her prose is beautiful and confident, affecting without being maudlin—it squeezed my heart while continuously bringing tears of joy to my eyes, and I had to take a very long, deep breath in the end to fully absorb all the emotions it left in me. This was undoubtedly one of the most moving books I’ve read in a long time.
At first glance, this might look like just another tale of opposites attracting, of a bad boy falling for the good girl, but this incredible story delves so much deeper than that. It’s an extraordinarily moving, beautifully written and, at times, almost unbearably painful tale of music, love, family, hope, and once I started reading it, I resented every single moment I had to spend away from this book and these characters. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read—filled with musical detail and infused with raw emotion—immediately earning its spot as one of my most beloved books of the year.
Devney Perry’s books have quickly become synonymous with small town romances that are sexy, charming, and everything in between, and while she continues to spread her wings by crafting compelling, well-written, vibrant stories that never fail to resonate with readers, Perry is once again staying true to her roots. We are back in small-town Montana, with a book that combines two of my favourite romance tropes—a surprise pregnancy AND a second chance romance—but this story is far more than just that. It’s complex and intense, thoughtful and heartwarming, and with a subtle thread of suspense running through it, every word was like catnip to me.
