TOP RECOMMENDATION | ROMANTIC COMEDY
Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints and they haven’t taken her seriously since. Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a Woman of the World… whatever that means.
Phase one: new framework for her business (a website from this decade, perhaps?)
Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (fyi, leggings are pants.)
Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people still wax?)
Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop crushing on Travis Ford!)
Living her best life means facing the truth: Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister” who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than the resident sports star and tabloid favorite.
Travis Ford was major league baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Now he’s flipping houses to keep busy and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there’s Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she proposes a wild scheme—that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help him land a new job—he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real. But the girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman and there’s nothing fake about how much he wants her…

HOLY MOTHER OF ALL PLOT TWISTS! Just when I thought I was used to Aly Martinez’ very own brand of book-voodoo, she ends up delivering one of the most unexpected, mind-blowing stories I have ever come across. Their paths first crossed in the middle of one of the most terrifying moments of their young lives—a moment that changed them both irrevocably—but when they meet again years later, all too many lies and secrets risk keeping them apart forever. It had me on the edge of my seat, with my Kindle in a death grip beginning to end, absolutely loving every single second of this crazy, exhilarating rollercoaster ride of a story.
I’ve never read a Tessa Bailey book I did not love, and her newest Romantic Comedy knocked my socks off. It’s a fake relationship scenario where the heroine has been crushing on the hero all her life, but he’s never seen her as anything other than his best friend’s kid sister. As they enter a fake relationship arrangement that benefits them both in different ways, they pretend to be in love for the whole world to see, but soon there’s nothing fake about their feelings or how much they desire each other. SO SO sexy and even angsty at times, this was a book I read in a single sitting, and I loved every mouthwatering second of it.
Set in the Alaskan wilderness, and featuring a silver fox attorney and a hot pilot, this story had me glued to the pages from the get-go. It’s a slow-burning kind of romance where the author takes her time developing the connection between the leads, and when they finally get together, the results are explosive. There’s an age gap element, a single dad one, too, and the writing is simply wonderful. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
One of the things I love the most about Mia Sheridan’s writing is how unique her stories always are, and this BEAUTIFUL book is no exception. A meticulously multilayered tale of survival, courage, and hope, every part of this story is heartfelt and powerful, and with the intricate mystery interwoven into every single page, I couldn’t put this book down for a single second. It all begins with a double murder in small town Montana, but the story quickly escalates into SO much more. A must-read!
From the moment I heard of a book about a rebellious First Son of the United States falling for the Prince of England, I became wildly obsessed with getting my hands on it, but never in my wildest dreams did I expect it to become one of my most beloved books of the year. In what is truly an outstanding debut novel, Casey McQuiston’s distinct and wonderfully whimsical writing style makes us lose ourselves in a tender romance that moves, inspires, and makes us believe. McQuiston paints a beautiful portrait of humanity with a story that celebrates love, courage, and individuality in all its glorious colours, quickly becoming one of the most romantic tales I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
I pretty much inhaled this delightful enemies-to-lovers tale in a single sitting. It’s the story of two sworn enemies who end up on an all-expenses-paid honeymoon trip to Maui instead of their married siblings, but somewhere between zip-lining, snorkeling, couple’s massages, and one too many mai tais—all the while pretending to be married—they begin to not only like each other, but they also realize that perhaps they’ve never known one another at all. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
I’ve been breathlessly waiting for this book from the moment I got whiff of the news that two of my favourite authors were collaborating again on a male/male romance, but it only took a few pages of this story for me to become utterly obsessed with it. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy’s latest offering is a wonderfully delicious romp that grabs you from the start and leaves you torn between wanting to devour the whole book in a single sitting and not wanting it to end, ever. A sizzling tale of sexual adventure and discovery, with the added bonus of an enemies-turned-lovers subplot, this is the kind of intoxicating reading experience that I’d recommend savouring for as long as you can. Preferably uninterrupted.
