You’ve heard of these groups – the secretive ones that only the crème de la crème are invited into, the ones outsiders speculate about for centuries – I’m the second in my family invited to attend, but to them, I’m fresh meat. New blood. New money, too.
They think they’ll elbow past me, that I’m here for their amusement, for them to walk all over, they’ll find out soon enough that I’m not.
I may look like one of them, with my designer bags and clothes straight from the Parisian runways, but I’m not. I’m here for answers, to take revenge for blood spilt on their centuries old Persian rugs.
I transferred here in search for answers about what happened to my older brother, who hightailed out of here, and my friend who seemingly disappeared into thin air. I certainly wasn’t here for the attention of the star hockey player, regardless of how much he willed my eyes his way. I wasn’t here for his scrutiny or his judgment or to read into his mysterious aura. I was here for the society, because only they held the answers I needed. That was, until I found out that in order to get those answers, I needed to go through him. He’s saying if I want in, I have to play by their rules, follow their lead.
It’s a game I’m willing to play.
I may be the second person I know of to be invited into their society, but I’ll be the first to make it out intact.
This is a standalone novel in the all-new Secret Society series.
London, 1890. Blood and death are Fiona Mahoney’s trade, and business, as they say, is booming.
Dying is the only thing people do with any regularity, and Fiona makes her indecorous living cleaning up after the corpses are carted away. Her childhood best friend, Mary, was the last known victim of Jack the Ripper. It’s been two years since Fiona scrubbed Mary’s blood from the floorboards, and London is no longer buzzing about the Ripper, but Fiona hasn’t forgotten. She hasn’t stopped searching for Jack.
When she’s called to a murder in the middle of the night, Fiona finds a victim mutilated in an eerily similar fashion to those of the Ripper, and only a few doors down from Mary’s old home. The relentless and irritatingly handsome Inspector Grayson Croft warns her away from the case. She might have listened, if she hadn’t found a clue in the blood. A clue that will lead her down a path from which there is no return.
As a killer cuts a devastating swath through London, a letter written in blood arrives at her door, and it is only then that Fiona realizes just how perilous her endeavor is. For she has drawn the attention of an obsessive evil, and is no longer the hunter, but the prey.
Fiona Mahoney is in the business of blood. But she’s not the only one.
This is the first book in the all-new In the Business of Blood series. It is not a standalone novel.

I left my posh life in Manhattan and escaped to the Hudson Valley in hopes of a fresh start. It wasn’t until I happened upon a bereavement group when I finally found a place I felt understood. And with every second, he makes me feel like myself again.

Yet he’s here. Moving his stuff into my spare bedroom. Sending a wave of panty-melting, musky man-scent my way every time he walks past me.
Here’s the thing.

I was stressed beyond belief. My life felt like it was hitting dead-end after dead-end, and my job was making me want to pull my hair out strand by single strand.
So, when my boyfriend suggests a spontaneous trip to Miami Beach, I jump at the chance.
I had no idea what was really in store for us when we boarded the plane.
Actually, let me correct that: when we boarded the wrong plane. Instead of flying to Miami Beach, we were headed toward Vintage Ridge, North Carolina.
Remember what I was saying about stress? Yeah, multiply that by two lost Canadians and one exceptionally friendly flight attendant and you’d feel what I felt.
This was going to be an interesting vacation.
I loved my boyfriend with my entire heart and soul. So when he hurts, I hurt. That’s why I decided to plan an entire vacation focused on rest and relaxation, because I could see my Jordan getting more wound up by the day.
Who could have guessed that our perfect Miami vacation would have started with Jordan accidentally eating an entire edible as we sat on the wrong flight toward some city neither of us could even point to on a map.
All while I had a very special, blue velvet box tucked deep inside my bookbag.
This was not how I wanted to start the trip, but maybe this was exactly what we both needed after all?

Was it too much to ask for one wild week away from college, away from the cold weather, and away from my classmates? That’s all I wanted. A spring break vacation where I could live my best life with my friends and get a little crazy for once. Possibly, drink too many cocktails on the beach, wear the skimpy bikini I bought, and have a no-strings-attached, tropical escapade with a co-ed.
Sounds perfect, right?
Well, it didn’t happen because my dumbass missed the nonrefundable flight.
And if it wasn’t bad enough that I was stranded on an empty, snow-covered campus over my senior year spring break, it was about to get a whole lot worse…because he’s still here too.
The tall, dark smart ass. The cocky classmate I’ve been rolling my eyes at since freshman year. The annoying internet star who everyone thinks is hilarious. Julien Carson.
So you know what? Screw it.
It’s just a few days, and nobody has to know. Plus, I guess he’s not so bad to look at when he’s saying all the right things and making all the right moves. SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE
Nine and a half years ago, you married a man who wasn’t me. He wasn’t even half of me…
Nine and a half hours ago, you walked through the doors of my billion-dollar boardroom for a job interview.
Although every person at the table fell for your charm and applauded, I didn’t dare. I couldn’t help but notice your bare ring finger. Couldn’t help but notice that you were even sexier now than you were on the night we first met.
I honestly didn’t want to hire you, but I had no choice. (I was outvoted 16-1, but trust me, you got this job by default.)
When you signed the papers and we shook hands, I didn’t bring up the fact that you didn’t “wait for me” like you promised to years ago, or that you just moved on with your life like what we had meant nothing. Instead, I insisted that we keep things one-hundred percent professional.
So, for the record: I’ve long forgotten about you and all the times we shared. (This includes the way your body feels under mine, the way your laughter used to make me smile, and the way you used to breathlessly say my name for hours at a time.)
I’m definitely not in denial, this is all one hundred percent true. You’ll never hear me say that you still have an effect on me, that you’re still the best I’ve ever had, or worse, that I never got over you…
This is a standalone novel.

Devney Perry kicks off an exciting new series with a gripping page-turner that has all her trademark elements—a small town setting, well drawn characters, an intriguing storyline—but with a much stronger thread of mystery and suspense running through it. The heroine is the new owner of a small town newspaper and she is set on uncovering the real reason why a notorious local motorcycle club disbanded and went their separate ways after decades of criminal activities that went unpunished. So when the former Club president suddenly becomes the key suspect for a new violent crime in town, the heroine sees this as the perfect opportunity to dig deeper into the Club’s nefarious past, but the president’s son has other ideas… While most of Perry’s books have a touch of suspense pushing the story forward, this series relies heavily on not knowing what’s coming, and we are kept on the edge of our seats until the very end. The writing is wonderful, the pace exhilarating, and the plot is completely unpredictable.
There’s something so euphoric about stumbling upon a book by chance, and then loving it SO completely and SO viscerally from the very first page, that you feel like you’ve lost a friend once it’s over. I’m not sure what caught me by surprise more—the sensuous, plush prose that simply took my breath away, the emotional depth of the characters, or the intense chemistry between them—but this story is so ‘out of the ordinary’ that every single about it is quite simply extraordinary. Set in a small English village, this is the tale of a beautiful but cynical city boy who escapes to the countryside looking for clarity and a way to gain control over his own life, but ends up falling for a bearish, soft-hearted farmer. And while this is a love story first and foremost, Talia Hibbert does a fine job at showing how mental illness can fester overtime and consume a person when they begin drifting unknowingly into the dark currents of their thoughts. She does so with empathy, authenticity, and a sense of profound optimism that leaves the reader feeling uplifted, hopeful, and maybe even a little enlightened. This is one of those books you’ll never forget, and talk all your friends into reading.
I’m forever on the lookout for stories that are not only well-written and deeply romantic, but that are also fresh, textured, unique and wonderfully quirky in their own way, so when I stumble upon a book that ‘ticks’ ALL the boxes—a book that is as quietly unsettling as it is tender, as emotionally gripping as it is witty—I get all giddy inside. A ghost-hunting adventure and sweeping romance in equal parts, and peppered with moments of breath-holding tension, it amazes me that this Gilded Age gem of a story is a debut effort. It’s a moving, evocative, beautifully told and, at times, chilling read, and even when I desperately wanted to speed ahead to find out what happens in the end, I made myself savour every exquisite last word of it.
It only took a hot minute for me to be dazzled by Catherine Bybee’s books when I first discovered them, but it was THIS series in particular that made me irrevocably fall in love with her storytelling, so seeing it come to an end was nothing short of bittersweet. And while I always expected this heroine’s story to be somewhat different from the rest given what we knew of her backstory, nothing could have prepared me for this fast-paced, high-stakes, globetrotting game of cat and mouse that somehow embodies and outdoes every single thing I’ve come to love about this author’s writing style. Bybee keeps us guessing until the very end in this perfect, edge-of-your-seat finale to a much-loved series, delivering an immensely satisfying ending that truly brings the series to full circle.
Renowned for her female leads that are aware, independent, brave, and freethinking, Kerrigan Byrne’s heroines are wonderfully modern without seeming out of place in their 1800s setting, and her latest novel reflects more than ever an era that gave rise to so many progressive women and female social reformers. The heroine is her own knight in shining armour—she is the daughter of an Earl, an accomplished archaeologist, and a rape survivor, but a dark secret from her past leaves her with no other choice but to propose marriage to a man whose touch she dreads. And while her male counterpart is a tortured alpha whose own past might have made him distrustful of any woman wishing to marry him, he proves to be a broadminded, protective, and devoted partner in all the ways that matter. Kicking off a brand new series that centres on the lives and loves of three fiercely independent best friends, Kerrigan Byrne delivers a dazzling tour-de-force novel that tackles head-on the lingering terror and lasting effects of living as a survivor of sexual violence. She does so sensitively but unflinchingly, and her every word takes your breath away.
If anyone ever asks you why you read romance books, tell them to read this book! The perfect escapist summer read, Leylah Attar’s latest gem is everything I’ve come to expect from this incredibly gifted storyteller—evocative, moving, witty, sublimely written—and it’s the kind of story that fills you with delight from the moment you start reading it. Attar transports us to an exotic paradise of sun-kissed beaches and crystal-clear waters, a place where reality looks and feels like a dream, and where a young woman finally finds herself in the arms of a man who makes her feel brave, loved, and weightless in a world that has held her down for too long. This is by far one of my favourite books of the year.

A brand new standalone Romantic Comedy is coming on Nov 14 from R.S. Grey—a fresh and hilarious take on everyone’s favourite royal trope—and we have the cover and blurb.
Some books plant themselves in your heart from the very first page, the unexpected beauty of them taking your breath away time and time again, and The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker owned my heart beginning to end. This incredibly moving, exquisitely written tale of a young woman traveling to Alaska to reconnect with her estranged father, only to find true love there, too, quickly became one of my TOP FAVOURITE BOOKS EVER, and I am overjoyed that Calla and Jonah’s journey will continue in a sequel, coming in March 2020. In the meantime, we have the gorgeous cover.
A sexy new Holiday Romance is coming on Nov 7 from Claudia Burgoa, and we have the cover.
Monica James has revealed the cover of her all-new standalone novel, coming on Dec 5.
