Two high school rivals find themselves on a two-week honeymoon road trip that their grandparents never went on in one of the most enjoyable romances I read this year. While browsing through her late grandmother’s belongings, Noelle Shepard finds a dusty old envelope containing photos and a letter from a secret lover who clearly loved her grandmother deeply but never got to marry her. Through a social media video that ends up going viral, she tracks down the man in question, only to realise that his grandson is her high school arch-nemesis Theo. Desperate to hold on to her beloved grandmother’s memory any way she can, Noelle agrees to go on a road trip with them both, following the sixty-year-old honeymoon that never happened. But two weeks on the road with a man who drives her crazy in every possible way can only spell trouble…of the best kind. Jessica Joyce paints the characters with vibrant brush strokes, delivering a timeless love story that is equal parts sexy, sweet, and aching in its telling of two young people desperate to be loved by someone who wants them exactly as they are.

This was my first book from Tal Bauer and it’ll be my first of many. I’m not sure what I fell in love with more—Tal’s exquisite prose or his ability to rip my heart out of my chest with just a few words, but Wyatt and Noël’s slow-burning love story owned me beginning to end. In this opposites-attract romance, two men meet on their way to a romantic resort in Mexico; one of them is going there for his brother’s destination wedding, and the other is on the honeymoon of a wedding that never happened—his own. They start off as friends, as two lonely men looking for an emotional connection with someone who makes them feel safe, but their bond grows fast and deeply, until the mere idea of parting ways hurts them both. When real life forces them in two very different directions, they must decide whether what they found in Mexico is worth fighting for. I get shivers just thinking about this story.

There’s nothing that makes me believe in happily-ever-after more than the idea of an estranged couple finding their way back to one another after years apart, and Kristen Ashley’s new novel is an absolute masterclass in character-driven storytelling, and in its nuanced portrait of two people fighting for what they should have never stopped being—perfect together. But nothing in this novel is easy or cheaply sentimental. Familial tensions, complex human bonds, and long-hidden truths transform the story into a powerful pressure-cooker of emotions that never loses its distinctive Kristen Ashley flavour and depth. There are passages I wanted inked on my skin for the rest of my life, there are scenes I would never want to relive, and there is so much beauty in the most unexpected of moments, all coming together to tell a story of love, forgiveness, and second chances in life, but also of breaking the cycle that is holding us down and setting the example for those we love the most.

One of my favourite books of the year so far, this delightful friends-to-lovers romance has everything I’ve always loved about Abby Jimenez’s writing—wit, heart, SO much emotion, and a cinnamon roll hero you’d slay dragons for. It’s the story of two emergency room doctors, both trying to get over complicated breakups, who meet as potential rivals, become best of friends while faking to date one another, and end up falling in love while desperately trying to ignore the sizzling sexual tension between them. This is the kind of book you wish you could read for the first time over and over again, every time falling a little more in love with Jacob Maddox.

FORCED PROXIMITY

Heavy is the head that inherits the crown.

The only thing on Daire Archer’s mind when she pulled a disappearing act on Christmas was proving she was worthy of being her father’s daughter. She was born an Archer, which was a blessing and a curse, and Daire was determined to show everyone she deserved to carry the legacy that came with her name.

There is power in a name, and being an Archer meant Daire needed to do better, to be better. At least, that’s what she thought she needed, until a boy from nowhere—with a name that meant nothing—showed her that she was already pretty great just the way she was.

Campbell has always rejected everything concerning his maniacal father and his troubled past. When he left Nowhere, he was certain he wanted a nice, quiet life free from the only things he’d ever known: violence and bloodshed. He thought he needed to be a better man. He wondered if there was a kinder, gentler version of himself under his thick armor of scars and tattoos.

It wasn’t until he started chasing Daire Archer all over hell and back that Campbell realized he needed to be a man who was better at being bad than everyone else in his troubled world.

Because now, he had a problematic princess to protect. One with an uncanny ability for finding trouble. Where Daire is concerned, being a good guy isn’t necessary.

This is the third book in the Forever Marked series of standalone novels with interconnected characters. This is a Marked Men and The Point crossover novel.

SINGLE MUM + GRUMPY/SUNSHINE

I knew fixing up my life with a fresh start on the hobby ranch I inherited in Hell’s Bells, Wyoming, would come with challenges. Things like snow. Wildlife. Local gossip about why my daughter and I are here.

But the biggest challenge?

My surly new tenant.

He’s like a bear. Fascinating from a distance, but don’t get too close, or he’ll bite.

His personality should be a good thing. I have no need of a new man in my life. But he’s not only my tenant; he’s also my daughter’s math teacher and soccer coach. I keep running into him. He keeps thinking I need to be saved.

Maybe I do, but here’s what I don’t expect: he’s a fixer-upper in need of saving too.

And I might be the only woman for the job.

Hell’s Bells, help me.

This is a standalone novel.

PARANORMAL ROMANCE

Passion’s magic ignites a fire too hot to touch—and too wicked to die…

The stars have always called to Ailis, beckoning her to see what other realms were out there. She’s told its impossible, but that doesn’t stop her need to explore beyond what others believe. Ailis never expected to change history by creating the first doorway to another realm. She certainly never imagined opening that door to find a commanding dragon who shifts into a man. She’s irresistibly drawn to Lennox, powerless against the yearning of her body and the longing of her heart.

Magic might have chosen Lennox as King of Dragon Kings, but it’s a position he’s never wanted. Until the day a new being arrives—and irrevocably changes his life. The closer he gets to the fearless, ravishing woman, the more he fights the passion that flares between them. He lives only for his duty, but one fiery kiss unleashes a firestorm of desire that will ripple across eons and realms. Fate might have brought them together, but will it also tear them apart?

The origins of the Dark Kings/Dragon Kings and the entire Dark Universe is finally revealed.

This is Dark KingsDragon Kings standalone prequel novel.

FAKE RELATIONSHIP + GRUMPY/SUNSHINE

Petunia De Vere enjoys being the personal assistant to lovable, bumbling Johnny Marchmont. But the job has its share of challenges, including the royal’s giant, intimidating bodyguard, Matthias. Pet and Matthias are polar opposites—she’s spontaneous and enthusiastic, he’s rigid and stoic—but she can sense there’s something softer underneath that tough exterior…

For Matthias Vaughn, protecting others is the name of the game. But keeping his royal charge out of trouble is more difficult than he imagined because everywhere Johnny goes, calamity ensues, and his petite, bubbly assistant is often caught in the fray. Matthias hates the idea of Pet getting hurt and he’s determined to keep everyone safe, even if it means clashing with his adorable new coworker.

When a clumsy moment leads to a questionable tabloid photo, the press begins to speculate that Pet is romantically involved with Johnny. To put an end to the rumors, the royal PR team asks Pet and Matthias to stage a fake relationship and the two reluctantly agree. But as they spend more time together outside of work, they begin to wonder what real emotions this pretend connection might uncover. Especially when a passionate kiss leaves both of their heads spinning…

This is a standalone novel.

ENEMIES TO LOVERS + GRUMPY/SUNSHINE + BILLIONAIRE ROMANCE

What happens when the man you think you despise turns out to be a completely different guy beneath the surface?

I didn’t like Wyatt Durand. He might be my friend’s older brother, but he was unpleasant, sarcastic, and the grumpiest guy on the planet.

It didn’t matter to me that he was a breathtakingly gorgeous, ultra-wealthy billionaire with the very prestigious Durand last name. I had a few very personal reasons for disliking the cranky jerk.

And then, for no apparent reason, he offered me an advantageous deal that I just couldn’t refuse.

I told myself that I didn’t have to like him to make a deal with him. All I had to do was ignore the strictly physical attraction I felt whenever he was near me.

However, once I peeled away his layers of arrogance and bossiness, there was a man beneath that mask that was dangerously compelling and nearly impossible to resist….

This is a standalone novel in The Billionaire’s Obsession series.

Series recommended reading order: The Billionaire’s Obsession | Heart Of The Billionaire | The Billionaire’s Salvation | The Billionaire’s Game | Billionaire Undone | Billionaire Unmasked | Billionaire Untamed | Billionaire Unbound | Billionaire Undaunted | Billionaire Unknown | Billionaire Unveiled | Billionaire Unloved | Billionaire Unchallenged | Billionaire Unattainable | Billionaire Undercover | Billionaire Unexpected | Billionaire Unnoticed | Billionaire Unclaimed | Billionaire Unreachable | Billionaire Unexplained (19 Mar 2024)

One lapse in judgment has ripple effects I never saw coming. Legal battles, jail time, and league punishments don’t faze me as much as losing the two people who are most important to me.

I’m still learning how to navigate these relationships, especially as they’ve started to pay the price for my actions. The fear of losing them grows stronger each day, and I don’t know how to fix things between us.

But I’m determined to make forward progress and rebuild what I’ve destroyed. I just hope it isn’t too late.

This is the fourth book in the Vegas Aces: The Playbook series. This series must be read in order.

Series reading order: Fumbled | False Start | Fair Catch | Forward Progress | Field Goal (31 Aug 2023)

MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE + BEST FRIEND’S SISTER + SPORTS ROMANCE

Breaking News: Rugby’s bad boy marries his best friend’s little sister.

If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no.
Why?
One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era.
Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.
The cocktail in my hand—similar to the one that got me into this situation—is the prettiest shade of pink. It’s almost the same color as the giant rock on my left hand. And instead of discussing an annulment, I’m considering a 90-day marriage of convenience to the man I accidentally married in Las Vegas.
Renn didn’t propose marriage. But he does deliver a proposal I might be unable to turn down.

This is a standalone novel.

ENEMIES TO LOVERS + ARRANGED MARRIAGE

In the Wakemont family, it’s tradition to arrange a marriage before the ink is dry on your birth certificate. I was five hours old when my father promised me to the son of a man with “more money than God.”

As we grew older, my future groom and I were encouraged to exchange “love letters” to get better acquainted—except the correspondence he sent read more like hate mail.

Slade Delacorte hated the arrangement.

But more than that, he hated me.

He was moody, intense, arrogant, and darkly gorgeous. A villain—not a prince. The last man on earth I’d ever marry (if I had the choice).

On my 24th birthday, we exchanged vows in front of six hundred guests who had no idea we weren’t every bit the blissful couple we pretended to be.

But as we began our new life together, I soon learned there was only one thing worse than marrying the man I’d hated my entire life: falling in love with him.

This is a standalone novel.
