SECOND CHANCES
Estranged exes must stick close together to save their best friend’s wedding after a string of disasters…
Georgia Woodward lives by her lists, none more so than the one about her ex, Eli Mora. It’s full of the ironclad dos and don’ts they’ve been following since she returned to the Bay Area after their cataclysmic breakup five years ago.
With the wedding of their mutual best friend, Adam, looming, and them about to step into their roles as best woman and man, Georgia’s never needed it more. She refuses to threaten their tight-knit friend group with her messy—and still very present—feelings. The rules on that list will keep her cool, calm, and compartmentalized.
What’s not on her list? Eli arriving from New York with a new rule-breaking attitude or the all-inclusive venue burning to the ground, leaving the bride and groom in dire straits. Nor does she anticipate Adam asking her and Eli to help him make a miracle happen. Together.
As Georgia and Eli rush up to Napa Valley to pull off the perfect wedding, their old chemistry comes back in technicolor. Somewhere between cake tastings gone wrong, disastrous DJ auditions, and Eli’s heated attention, Georgia starts recognizing the man she fell in love with before. And if she lets herself break her rules, she might find what they’re building isn’t the something old that ruined them—it’s a chance at something new.

She’s trying to escape her past…
Hitting the reset button with the help of a friend from back home in Boston, all Margaret Michaels is hoping for is a fresh start. And it doesn’t get much fresher than the seaside hamlet of Townsend Harbor. Handed a place to live and a job as a bartender in the town’s most popular nautical-themed pub, she’s been given a hell of a head start—for once in her life. There’s only one problem. She’s never tended bar a day in her life. A fact that a certain studly regular seems all too eager to point out.
He’s trying to build a future…
Deputy Trent McGarvey loves two things: leggy redheads, and a good craft cocktail at the end of a long shift. And though he’s a relatively recent transplant to Townsend Harbor from a seedy beat in Albuquerque, he knows just where to find both. Or did, until the smart-mouthed sprite who doesn’t know a Manhattan from a Mojito took over for the gastropub’s well-loved, willowy martini maven. And yet, the more McGarvey learns about fiery Maggie Michaels, the more he can’t help but notice that the evidence isn’t quite lining up with the story the messy mixologist provides him. But if there’s anything McGarvey loves—okay, three things—it’s a mystery.
When an after-hours crash course in cocktails leaves their thinking as muddled as the mint, the passionate fling that ensues could leave both their long-term prospects within Townsend Harbor on the rocks.

FORCED PROXIMITY + BILLIONAIRE ROMANCE
According to the British gossip columns, billionaire Malcolm Sullivan is one of the most eligible bachelors in England. His siblings love to tease him about that, and since he also thinks the whole thing is ridiculous, he takes no offense. The irony is that while he is great at his job, he’s terrible at dating…let alone falling in love. In fact, he’s been told during nearly every single break-up that as long as he stays wed to his high-powered job, he will never find true love.
Josie Hartwell is thrilled about her new contract job working with bookstore owner Mari Everett to set up a reading retreat on Elderflower Island. Now that they’re unexpectedly reunited, as they spend more and more time together, the sizzling heat between them becomes hotter than anything either of them have felt with anyone else. But do they have any chance of a lasting love? Can Josie risk her heart on the man who smashed it into a million pieces? Can she trust him to get it right this time? There’s something downright breathtaking about a Kate Canterbary novel and the way her characters pull you in straightaway with the sheer freshness and candour of their quirks and wit. But it’s the way she then breaks them wide open, tenderly, carefully, that has you hooked on her every word. Two perfect strangers meet at a wedding—he’s the best man, she’s not even supposed to be there—thinking one unforgettable night of passion would be all they’d ever have. But when their paths cross again, their new working relationship throws a wrench in any desire they might have of pursuing a romantic connection. Canterbary takes the familiar workplace romance trope and turns it on its head in this heartwarming, fun, thoughtful story about finding the courage to believe in love, and it just so happens to be one of my favourite reads of the year.
A young woman stricken by grief after the gruesome murder of her beloved mother moves into a secluded cabin by the lake, looking for peace and quiet, only to discover that she is not only sharing the lake with a rowdy neighbour, but the lake is also believed to be haunted by lovers who were murdered there almost two decades before. We return to Misted Pines with yet another intricately plotted, beautifully paced, spine-tingling whodunit with a beautiful love story (or three) at its core. This gripping tale about long-buried secrets, family bonds, and unexpected twists had me guessing until the very end.
The majestic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands have been stirring the hearts of romantics for countless centuries, and Samantha Young’s aptly named series continues to echo the romantic allure of its idyllic setting with yet another unputdownable love story, this time of the marriage-of-convenience kind. She pairs a pragmatic, self-reliant Scottish farmer with the rebellious younger daughter of a Hollywood power couple, in this slow-burning, friends to lovers romance that hits all the right emotional beats. An absolute must-read!
Paranormal romances are so rarely my jam these days, having read little else during my twenties and thirties, but Ali Hazelwood’s brand of sharp-witted, lovelorn shenanigans is always hard to resist, even more so when her new marriage of convenience romp happens to be of the blood-sucking and howling variety. She takes the star-crossed lovers, fated mates tropes to new heights in this spicy, unputdownable tale of two mortal enemies who agree to marry in order to uphold the peace between their species. I loved the story, the characters, the dialogues, even all the drawn-out miscommunication angst, but Ali Hazelwood had me at knotting, and I’m (k)not embarrassed to admit it. (K)not even a little.
