“Lean back on the table and spread your legs for me…”

Being a doctor in New York City has never been easy. Especially for someone like me, who has a private practice and an incompetent staff who insists on leaving me to fill in for them.

Over the past six months, I’ve performed one too many pap smears, three too many “breast exams,” and scrubbed in on several reconstructive surgeries. (This would be acceptable, if I was still interested in general medicine, but I’m not. I’m supposed to be a goddamn therapist…)

When my team finally came to their senses and decided to bring someone more competent into the practice last month, I was actually elated.

Until I realized that our new “doctor” was none other than the woman I was supposed to meet for dinner two weeks ago. The same woman who stood me up with nothing more than an “I can’t meet you anymore, sorry,” after we agreed to move our online talks into reality.

I haven’t forgotten any of the filthy fantasies she told me about, and I never deleted our dirty messages. And if she thinks that I’m going to act like a “professional” and pretend like that s**t never happened, she has another thing coming…

BOOK REVIEW: Dirty Doctor

Whitney G.

RATING:

You are, BY FAR, the most unprofessional doctor I have ever worked with in my career. –Dr. Madison
You haven’t worked in this field long enough to actually have a “career.” –Dr. Ashton

The perfect quickie in every possible way, I could very easily become addicted to these sexy little dollops of unputdownable goodness that Whitney G. has been treating us with lately. But as much as I expected a limited plotline given the book’s length, I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfied I felt by the story’s impressive girth. With her trademark dialogues, witty characters, and inimitable sense of humour, the author delivers a story that is fun through and through, happily missing all the background noise, and bursting at the seams with sexual tension between the characters. Yes, I swallowed…it whole in one sitting, and loved every minute of it.

“I know this practice is your family’s legacy, but you really need a life outside of these walls.”
“No, I need the doctors inside of these walls to actually show up and do their damn jobs.”

As the owner of a thriving and widely respected private practice at one of Manhattan’s most upscale addresses, Dr. Garrett Ashton appears to have it all—talent, success, and smouldering good looks—but the grumpy young doctor’s heavy workload has cost him his personal life. With no time to meet women in the city that never sleeps, Dr. Ashton has had to resort to online matchmaking in order to appease his raging libido, and it is on one of these exclusive sites for the city’s elite professionals that he meets his perfect match—the nameless and pictureless “JerseyGirl7″—a woman whose intellect and insatiable sexual appetite suit his to a T. The only problem is that she refuses to meet him.

“If we ever do meet and I wanted to give you a small gift for all your advice over these months, what would be appropriate? A make-believe doctor kit? A collection of better porn?”

After a Human Resources error costs Dr. Natalie Madison her dream of completing her medical residency at one of New York’s most prestigious hospitals, she finds herself with an option she never even considered—working as an intern at a private practice. But on her very first day there, she discovers that her dirty-mouthed online pen pal “D-Doctor” is the same man she’d be sharing an office with for the remainder of her residency—her sexy as hell new boss. And to top it all, he has no idea that she happens to be his naughty “JerseyGirl7.”

“IF you had actually shown up, you wouldn’t have had the memory of being beneath me in my bed at all. I would’ve had you on all fours…”

And so a delicious will-they-won’t-they battle of wills ensues from their undeniable chemistry, their every interaction loaded with sexual innuendos and wisecracks, and the closer we get to the finish line, the more amusing it becomes to watch them juggle their attraction with their working relationship.

Whitney G. manages to create two fascinating protagonists regardless of their limited character arcs, keeping equal focus on them both and giving us just the right amount of insight into their respective personalities. Funny, sweet, and very very sexy, this kind of story is the epitome of a perfect rainy-afternoon read…and I see many a re-read of it in my future.

“What time is the last patient due in?” I asked.
“Now.” He picked up a clipboard. “Get undressed and get on the table.”
