He’s my most delicious secret.

Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked.
We met in room 301. Where he commanded not only my body but my soul.
The next day he was gone and I only had a memory of him.
I could still taste his kisses, feel his demanding touch.
I searched for him for months. Daydreaming about him. Wondering if I’d ever find him.
Until the day I find myself staring face to face with his jeweled black eyes again.
He says lets keep it casual, and my heart knows that falling for this workaholic in a three-thousand-dollar suit is off the table.
Because he has a secret. One that’s a deal breaker for me.

AGE GAP
He was powerful, older and my boss, a lethal combination.
Job satisfaction has taken on a whole new meaning. When I lied on my resume, I didn’t expect it to matter.
I mean any child would love me; I was born to be a nanny.
I applied for a position working for a woman, or so I thought.
But Julian Masters is definitely all man…the kind you dream of licking chocolate from. The first day was bad. The kids were the spawn of the devil and I spied through a window and caught him doing something obscene…. and equally fascinating.
The second day was worse, he caught me snooping in his bathroom cabinet in my skimpy pyjamas and all hell broke loose.
On the third day, I ran over him in a golf cart.
And by day four I had decided that I wanted that chocolate…all of it.
Melted….on me.But intelligent, widowed Judges don’t fall for ditzy nannies.
Or do they? This is a standalone novel.
I’ll say this about Christian—he made one heck of a first impression.
When I first saw the strapping man, he was doing handstands naked on a dock along the canal. His crown jewels were far more entertaining than anything else I’d seen on the boat tour, so I did what any curious woman would do — I took his photo. I might have looked at the shot a few dozen times. Little did I know I’d meet him again, a year later, at a secret garden bar in the heart of the city, where I’d learn that his mind and his mouth were even more captivating. But given the way my heart had been trampled, I wanted only a simple deal — No strings. No expectations.
Our arrangement worked well enough until the day I needed a lot more from him.
* * *
Let me just say, this whole part-time lover thing was her idea. I’d have gone all-in from the start, but hey, when a gorgeous, brilliant woman invites you into her bed, and only her bed…well, I said yes.
But then, one hysterical phone call from my brother later, begging me to find myself a wife so grandfather’s business stays in the family, and I need a promotion with Elise. Turns out a full-time husband suits her needs too, and a temporary marriage of convenience ought to do the trick, until we can simply untie the knot…
As long as no one finds out…
As long as no one gets hurt…
As long as no one falls in love…But our ending was one I never saw coming.

She’s even more astonished to find that she’s inherited Blix’s Brooklyn brownstone along with all of Blix’s unfinished “projects”: the heartbroken, oddball friends and neighbors running from happiness. Marnie doesn’t believe she’s anything special, but Blix somehow knew she was the perfect person to follow in her matchmaker footsteps.

At first glance, there is little that is truly groundbreaking about a story of two ‘friends with benefits’ slowly becoming more, but it is Sarina Bowen’s deft control of her characters that made this book unlike anything I’ve ever read before. She paints her characters with such nuance and with such complexity, it becomes impossible not to get pulled in—not just by their many intriguing facets, but also by a love story that is unexpected, surprising, atypical, and rewarding in every single way.
Achingly romantic and devastatingly sexy all at once, this book is so much more than just a heartwarming tale of two good friends falling in love—this is also the story of a woman’s quest for her own identity, and of her emotional transformation from ‘ugly duckling’ to confident, self-assertive protagonist of her own life. It’s a feel-good kind of read that cheers you up when you didn’t even know you needed cheering, deceptively lighthearted and fun, all the while painting a sensitive picture of a woman’s battle with her own demons. This will undoubtedly end up being one of my favourite reads of the year.
Our third return to the tantalizing world of the Bee’s Honey was everything I hoped it would be, and SO much more. Kristen Ashley takes our breath away with one of her most erotic yet tender romances to date, the story of two broken souls who mend each other piece by piece, only to discover a love that neither of them ever expected to find in life. Two of the Honey’s most enigmatic Dominants, Sixx and Stellan prove to be two of its most complex and fascinating characters, too, and through the author’s lush writing style, we watch them being broken wide open before they are slowly put back together in the most marvellous of ways. Kristen Ashley’s consummate understanding of her characters’ every nuance pulls us into the story like a tide, delivering a story that is moving, intimate, and satisfying on every level.
I enjoy quite a few forbidden romance tropes, but nothing has me breathlessly turning the pages like a love story with a significant age gap between the characters. And while in real life a relationship of this nature might even give me pause, age disparity in fiction is like catnip for me. I seek it, I relish it, I get high on it, and when I come across a book so well-written that the love story eventually eclipses the forbidden quality of it, I become utterly spellbound. In this novel, we are hit with a scenario that is designed to makes us flinch, but once again, Penelope Douglas showcases her knack for creating compelling central characters and thus reversing all our expectations about them. She delivers a multilayered love story that strikes every emotional chord along the way, a story that is beautifully complicated, infinitely angsty, and completely impossible to put down.
For a very long time after first reading this book, I didn’t know how to talk about it without bursting into tears, the sharp sting of some of those pages never fading, never losing its devastating bite. It was one of the most harrowing yet emotionally rewarding books to get through—parts of it incredibly painful to process, while others had me smiling through my tears—but from the very beginning, I also knew that I was holding in my hands one of the most important books I’ll ever read. Kennedy Ryan delivers a tour-de-force novel that not only showcases her knack for incorporating a subtle but persistent thread of social commentary running through her stories, but she also takes the reader on an unflinching descent into the hidden, dark reality that so many women must survive daily.
You’d think I’d be used to reacting to Christina Lauren’s novels this way by now, but I still find myself utterly OVERWHELMED by all the ways their beautiful storytelling affects me, and by how deeply I grow to care about their characters. A friends-to-lovers romance and a second chance romance, yet this magnificent book is so much more than the sum of those labels. It left me brimming with emotion, still feeling warm every time I think of this story, because have no doubt—this story WILL move you. And then you’ll push it into the hands of your friends any chance you get.
The perfect balance of angst, heart, and headboard-rattling sex, I was utterly besotted by these characters from the get-go, and even struck on several occasions by HOW MUCH I felt everything they were feeling, how in sync I was with their every emotion. Stir a quirky, fun-loving, bold, yet inherently vulnerable leading lady with a well-mannered, compassionate, true Southern gentleman, add a jilted groom scenario and a dash of dirty bedroom talk into the mix, and you have the makings of one of the most moving friends-to-lovers romances I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
From the moment I read the blurb, I simply couldn’t ‘one-click’ this book fast enough. It’s the kind of book you find yourself reading every chance you get, desperate to absorb every word, every feeling, every thrill, and before you know it, it’s 3.30am when you’re finally turning the last page. This second chance romance is incredibly multilayered, as deeply romantic as it is suspenseful, and while it explores complex human conditions that are heartbreaking at times, it nonetheless leaves you feeling uplifted and smiling like a fool. It was truly one of the BEST books I’ve ever read—infused with SO MUCH emotion, and told with heartbreakingly beautiful language and empathy—and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough.
