The first lie I told myself was that he was just an old friend. I wish it had been the only lie because the other lies would destroy us all.
I close my eyes as I hear him speak. I take one very long and deep breath hoping to calm the immediate butterflies that take flight in my stomach and hope to slow down the racing of my heart. The voice was slightly deeper but the timbre was one that was achingly familiar.
My actions did little to help, but then who was I kidding? A deep breath wasn’t going to fix the effect he had on me and my body’s inevitable reaction. Even the memories that would forever haunt me couldn’t keep my emotions from triggering at the nearness of him once again.
I used to pray that I’d find the strength to move on from him, from the pain that the end carried, from the emptiness in my chest, but ultimately move on from—the loss of Creed Sullivan and the death of his sister, Cora.
The Sullivans had been the best part of my summers in New England.
Deep down, I always knew my ache for all that I had lost was the reason I returned…
But I hadn’t expected to see him again—especially not like this.

How hard can it be?
That was the question rolling around Larissa Mason’s mind just before she asked Hollis Hudson to be her fake boyfriend.
It was only supposed to be for five minutes, after all.
Granted, that was also before she felt his hand on the small of her back as he charmed the heck out of her family.
And it was definitely before she saw the football god shirtless. Otherwise, she would’ve had an idea of just how hard some things could be.
It turns out that pretending to be in love with a crazily handsome, somewhat enigmatic, and absolutely unforgettable tight end (that has an amazing tight end) is easy.
Reminding herself that just because opposites attract doesn’t mean they’re forever is much harder.
What they have isn’t love—it’s a relationship pact. Right?
This is the is third book in the Kings of Football series—co-written with Ilsa Madden-Mills and Meghan Quinn—of standalone novels with interconnected characters.
Sex comes with a price tag.
One I’m quite willing to pay.
In fact, I prefer it.
It’s easier that way, and in my life, I prefer ease. Prefer for most things to be transactional.
So when the intern disrupts my day, I’m not happy about it. I have a dark and dirty little secret he knows about. One that could destroy my reputation in a world where reputation is everything.
That makes him dangerous.
He could ruin me professionally, wreck my life, but the touch of his mouth to mine, the feel of him in my arms—they’re all I can think about.
Drunk on him, when I’ve always been sober.
The freedom in admitting that is intoxicating. Enough to make me feel drunk with the relief of finally being myself.
But what feels better?
He’s my boss. He holds my future in his hands in more ways than he knows, but he isn’t as free as I am. Doesn’t have the same freedom I do to own up to what he is.
Because of that, I know I’m losing him.
I can feel us becoming DOA.
But is he worth fighting for when he won’t admit what I am to him? What we mean to one another?
I guess you’ll have to read on to find out…

It’s not until my sister sends me a text that I realize how terrible of a decision that was.
Georgia: Why haven’t you sent me a ‘LOL’ about the brand-new vibrator I got you? I really do hope that you use your boss’s face as a muse, like my note says. :-)
If that’s not bad enough, this year’s “luxury trip” will be in my hometown–the place I’ve avoided for years. At the resort that my grandmother owns…

Jewel E. Ann’s novels are a special brand of magic and her latest offering is to die for. It’s the story of a young widow who, after twenty-two years of marriage and raising four kids, finds herself desperately looking for something real in her life again. Enter a much younger, very handsome new business owner in town who not only threatens the livelihood of the heroine’s family store, but also pursues her relentlessly from the moment they meet. And while their attraction is undeniable, their views on marriage and life in general are very different. A beautifully written, impossible-to-put-down tale of life, love, relationships, and of belonging to no-one but yourself—I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
The third book in Cherise Sinclair’s captivating Sons of the Survivalist series is the story of a young woman who comes to Alaska to save her best friend and her son from the grips of a fanatical militia group, only to end up falling in love with a protective, Alaskan mountain of man who shows her everything that has been missing in her life thus far. Cherise Sinclair is a master of characterization, her intense attention to detail bringing her characters to life in a way that they always feel authentic, believable, and easy to relate to. Romantic, suspenseful, and richly atmospheric, this book swept me off my feet, and I missed it the moment I finished reading it.
No one writes erotica the way Tiffany Reisz does and her newest offering is an absolute treat. We return to the sensually decadent world of the Godwicks with a superbly written tale of two people who, in order to settle a family debt, enter an arrangement that is meant to remain purely sexual in nature. Hate turns to lust, lust turns to love, and they both end up discovering sides of themselves they never knew were there. But one of them is keeping dark secrets from the other… With the perfect balance of titillating sex scenes, engaging dialogue, and heart-warming pathos, books like these are the reason I adore reading Romance. HIGHLY recommend it!
Samantha Young continues her True Immortality series with another action-packed, fantastical adventure—stretching from Europe to Japan—as two more ‘true mates’ bound by magic, destiny and love find one another, joining forces against a new, powerful foe. Amidst heart-racing chase and battle scenes, plenty of dramatic tension, and even a few jaw-dropping twists, the author delivers the sweetest, slowest burn ever between two leads whose attraction is as potent as it is combustible. Young’s crisp, vivid prose captures every subtle nuance of emotion between her characters, making this thoroughly absorbing story an absolute must-read.
A consistent powerhouse in the small-town romance subgenre, Devney Perry delivers another riveting tale that is full of tenderness and heart as she takes us back to Clifton Forge, Montana with the story of a young woman desperate to make sense of her life after escaping a perilous situation following a lifetime of abuse. She finds safety in the home and arms of a man who is willing to risk everything for her, helping her see that true strength and bravery come from the heart. It’s another perfect addition to a well-layered, emotionally charged series that continues to strike the perfect balance of emotion, setting, and plot.
I honestly can’t believe that one of the BEST, most thought-provoking books I read this year is not even a romance. A failed bank robbery turns into a hostage situation at an open house, but when the hostages are eventually released, the robber is nowhere to be found. Through police interviews and flashbacks, we get to know not only the quirky hostages, but also the two policemen trying to solve the case, and as more and more puzzle pieces curiously fit together, we begin to piece together a breath-taking tale of life, love, death, marriage, parenthood, and compassion. Packed with both moments of laugh-out-loud humour and heart-piercing honesty, I found myself having to put this book down more than once, desperate to fully absorb each scene and process the sheer genius of it all. Fredrik Backman is a wonder, a brilliant storyteller and a keen observer of human nature, and this book is the rarest of gems. And the audiobook is simply OUTSTANDING.
Claire Contreras has revealed the cover of her upcoming, standalone Gothic Romance, coming on Dec 20.
The second book in Devney Perry’s (writing as Willa Nash) Calamity Montana small town romance series is coming in February, and we have the sexy cover.
We have the gorgeous covers of Jasinda Wilder’s brand new Romantic Comedy series, kicking off in January with a lough-out-loud billionaire romance with a twist.
