The third instalment in the Adair Family series takes us back to the Scottish Highlands with the much awaited story of Arrochar “Arro” Adair and Mac Galbraith. Arro has been in love with her brother’s best friend and head of security for longer than she wishes to admit, but their thirteen-year age gap has always stood in the way of them becoming more than just friends. Now a woman in her thirties, Arro can no longer see any issue with their difference in age, but when she makes her intentions known, she discovers that the only man she’s ever loved might not love her that way in return. Or there could be something else keeping them apart… I absolutely loved Samantha Young’s meticulous attention to detail when developing the characters, making us understand the reasons behind their actions, and slowly building up this age-gap romance into the kind of story that stays with you far past the last page. And the subtle thread of unrequited love puts the angsty cherry on top that I always hope to find. This series only keeps getting better and better.

Lucy Lennox is a relatively new-to-me author, but she’s quickly becoming one of my go-to writers in the Romance genre. I’ll be honest with you, I jumped into this series knowing all too well that this is the fourth book set in that world, and I was completely fine with that. Julian and Parker have been inseparable since they were kids, their bond one of friendship, loyalty, and unconditional love. But while Parker has only ever seen Julian as his beloved best friend, Julian has been secretly pining for Parker for the past twenty years. So, when Parker is left at the altar by his fiancé, Julian whisks him away to a snowy cabin in Aster Valley to help him get over the heartbreak. However, the only thing that Parker is feeling is relief when it comes to the wedding that never happened. A few kisses quickly turn into so much more, but while Parker is ready to go all in and show the man he’s always loved that he is not going anywhere, Julian has a hard time trusting the change in their relationship. Sizzling hot and oh-so emotional, I devoured this wonderful book in a day.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE going back to Willa Nash’s small town Montana and the latest instalment in her Calamity Montana series is to die for. We quickly met Nellie Rivera and Cal Stark in The Brazen as Pierce Sullivan’s two best friends who happen to hate one another. But while Nellie relocates to Calamity both for work and for a fresh start in life, Cal has just retired from the NFL and is feeling completely unsure about his future. They clash every time they cross paths, but what we quickly discover is that they’ve also been sleeping together for the past four years. And while they continue to do so, their antagonism doesn’t start fading until Cal comes across an old high school journal of Nellie’s that begins rewriting the narrative between them. Willa Nash (a.k.a. Devney Perry) continues to weave stories that have the perfect balance of escapism and complexity, where every emotion hits you like a tidal wave, and this one made me FEEL so much.

Kate Canterbary has been a must-read author for me for some time now, and her latest novel is simply fantastic. It’s an enemies-to-lovers story between two surgeons working at the same hospital who, after a very heated debate that leaves an exam room in shambles, are forced to attend eight weeks of conflict resolution counselling… together. They push each other’s buttons every time they are in the same room, never letting the other win ANY argument, and before long, their every round of bickering inevitably ends with them tearing each other’s clothes off. But when feelings begin to develop, things take an unexpected turn for them both. Kate is the queen of banter, and the dialogues in this book are simply stellar. You feel the antagonism, the heat, the undeniable chemistry between the characters, all the while delivering a story that is emotional, moving, and beautifully written. I listened to the audiobook and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

FAKE DATING + BILLIONAIRE ROMANCE

We have to pretend that what we have is something like love…

I’m down on my luck.

Scratch that. This is the worst week of my life.

Enter the last person I want to deal with: Burke St. James.

He’s wealthy.

He’s a womanizer.

And a big liar.

And it turns out we need each other.

Burke needs a fiancée to seal the deal of a lifetime. I need help or my business is going belly-up. So, Burke very non-romantically asks me to marry him. Well, he asks me to be fake engaged to him, anyway.

I’ll attend a few dinners, pretend I’m in love, and meet the family.

In exchange, he’ll invest in my company and help me launch it off the ground.

All is easy, except his kisses feel more real than they should.

And the sex…damn, we’re not supposed to have sex.

It’s all for show…right?

Did I mention he’s a really good liar?

Pretending not to fall in love is more complicated than I thought.

This is the second book in the Against All Odds: The St. James Family series of standalone novels with interconnected characters.

Series recommended reading order: Until Next Time | Something Like Love

SMALL TOWN + SECOND CHANCES

I’ve loved Calder Cruz from the moment he taught me how to fly. Racing down a mountain and giving me the release I so desperately needed. My understanding. My safe space.

Hadley has fought for a life of her own ever since her sister’s kidnapping. When she was drowning in expectations and family pressures, Calder was always the one who understood her.

Until one night changed it all. From best friends to strangers in a single breath.

She’s like a fire that lives inside me. Even when I thought it was all burned out, there were still embers that lived in my bones.

Calder knows what it’s like to almost lose the people he loves most. He’ll never make that kind of mistake again. Working at the fire station and taking care of his daughters are the only things he needs.

All it takes is a single moment to make him realize how wrong he is. A split second of coming close to losing the woman he has always loved.

But as long-buried embers light anew, there are those who lurk in the shadows. And they’ll do whatever it takes to extinguish that flame for good…

This is the second book in the Tattered & Torn series of standalone novels with interconnected characters.

Three women who seemingly have nothing in common find that they’re involved with the same man…

Siobhan is a quick-tempered life coach with way too much on her plate. Miranda is a tree surgeon used to being treated as just one of the guys on the job. Jane is a soft-spoken volunteer for the local charity shop with zero sense of self-worth.

These three women are strangers who have only one thing in common: they’ve all been stood up on the same day, the very worst day to be stood up—Valentine’s Day. And, unbeknownst to them, they’ve all been stood up by the same man.

Once they’ve each forgiven him for standing them up, they are all in serious danger of falling in love with a man who may have not just one or two but three women on the go….

Is there more to him than meets the eye? Where was he on Valentine’s Day? And will they each untangle the truth before they all get their hearts broken?

This is standalone novel.

The lives of the Wessco royal family have always been extraordinary. Abounding in power and wealth, and marked by moments of soul-searing passion, exquisite love, and tragic loss.

SMALL TOWN

A million likes vs. one true love

Bryce Bauman is one half of a famous influencer couple…until his boyfriend dumps him and puts the whole ugly scene online.
Several months later, Bryce is at the end of his rope—he’s lost all his endorsements, along with his so-called friends. Licking his wounds, he escapes to the tiny town of Serenity, Pennsylvania, where he’s surrounded by too much nature and quiet. And…the hot as hell owner of the bed-and-breakfast who makes him think there might be life beyond what’s on a screen.

Matty Wilcox has no time for spoiled brats or social media. He must keep the business running, his grumpy grandfather healthy, and himself deep in the closet. In his little town, there’s no way to come out to his friends and family and have things stay the same, so he’s better off alone.

Except life is complicated now that Bryce is staying at the bed and breakfast—he’s entirely too tempting and not as silly and shallow as Matty first thought. Giving in to his desire could only muddy the waters of the life he’s so carefully built. Any slipup would be dangerous for his business, his friendships, and most importantly, his heart. Besides, there’s no place for small-town Matty in Bryce’s big-city life. The two of them, together, don’t make sense.

Then again, since when does anything make sense when it comes to love—the greatest influencer of all?

This is a standalone novel.

ENEMIES TO LOVERS

I moved to Chicago six months ago, determined to finally open my own bakery. My landlady was this sweet woman who treated me like her granddaughter.
Then she sold the house. Now the devil himself is my landlord and neighbor since I live in the guesthouse on his property. Declan Maxwell is moody, unreasonable, and takes himself far too seriously. Unfortunately for me, he’s also damn sexy.

When he shows up on my doorstep in the middle of the night ordering me to turn down the music, I give him hell. Secretly, I’m also checking him out. We go toe to toe like this almost every night.
The man is impossible. But here’s the thing. I need a place to stay while I save for my business and this place is a steal. So, I need to put up with this handsome devil, though from a distance—because he’s far too gorgeous.

Then one day I come home injured from work and he surprises me by taking care of me.
And kissing me.
And just like that, all my best intentions go up in smoke.

This is the third book in The Maxwell Brothers series of standalone novels with interconnected characters.

Winnifred Gobaldi and Byron Visser are not best friends.

Yes, they’ve known each other for years, but they’re not even friendly. Winnie considers them more like casual, distant acquaintances who find each other barely tolerable, especially when he’s being condescending (which is all the time).

The truth is, they have nothing in common. She’s a public school science teacher with stars in her eyes, and he’s a pretentious, joyless double PhD turned world-famous bestselling fiction author. She loves sharing her passion for promulgating women in STEM careers and building community via social media, and he eschews all socialization, virtual or otherwise. She’s looking for a side hustle to help pay down a mountain of student debt, and his financial portfolio is the stuff of fiduciary wet dreams. So why are they faking a #bestfriend relationship for millions of online spectators?

When a simple case of tit-for-tat trends between nonfriends leads to a wholly unexpected kind of pretend, nothing is simple. Sometimes, it takes a public audience to reveal the truth of private feelings, and rarely—very rarely—you should believe what you see online.

This is a standalone novel.
