Under the guise of sexy, bantery romances about a band of famous rock stars falling in love, Kristen Callihan continues to deliver breathtaking tales of friendship, acceptance, and family found—both delighting and pushing readers out of their emotional comfort zones—and her latest offering in the VIP series is no exception. It’s the long-awaited story of Rye and Brenna, two thirtyish frenemies and colleagues who’ve spent their entire adult lives working towards making their dreams a reality, but now, while both at the top of their game, the future is staring them in the face, and it’s looking colourless and lonely. A no-strings-attached, sex-only arrangement between them seems like the answer to both their problems . . . until things get very complicated in and out of the bedroom, and two people who’ve spent far too long pretending not to like each other are forced to face their true feelings for one another or continue to live the lie. The playful yet wildly combustible chemistry between the characters alone makes this the kind of book I will want to read over and over again.

The third book in Devney Perry’s (writing as Willa Nash) Calamity Montana series is a ‘stranded together’ romance between Kerrigan Hale, a young woman who’s been making a name for herself in Calamity with her entrepreneurial ventures, and Pierce Sullivan, grandson of her former investor and man who now holds her fate in his hands. Forced to make a case for herself as someone deserving of not being ruined by the brazen billionaire, Kerrigan drives to Pierce’s ritzy mountain lodge to confront him, but a snowstorm traps them together and leaves them stranded together. Whether she writes as Devney Perry or Willa Nash, this author continues to deliver characters that are unique, interesting, and easy to love, and this story is a perfect example of this. Kerrigan and Pierce’s story might sound trope-y, but there is nothing about these characters’ journey to one another or their personal arcs that is simple or predictable. The story is full of surprises, emotionally satisfying moments, and stellar writing, as always.

Apart from being so very different to most romances I’ve read lately, which is always the case with this author’s works, everything about this story was simply fresh and delightful. It’s the story of struggling single mother Rosaline Palmer who, in the hopes of giving her daughter a better life, enters a popular TV baking competition—the fictional equivalent of UK’s Great British Bakeoff. But when Rosaline enters into a love triangle with two fellow contestants, her life suddenly becomes very complicated. A heartwarming and at times hilarious tale of a young woman learning to love herself that I absolutely ADORED.

Set in the tranquil beauty of the Scottish Highlands, Samantha Young’s newest novel is to die for. It’s the story of a young American policewoman who, after almost losing her life on the job, travels to Scotland to reconnect with her estranged father, only to find herself caught in the crossfire of a dangerous stalker targeting her father’s employer and anyone close to him. As the attacks grow more and more violent, an unlikely romance blossoms between two people who are trying very hard to keep disliking each other, but as their bond deepens, so does the danger to them both. Barrelling full steam ahead from the get-go, Young writes with such page-turning ease that it is impossible not to get lost in the story, but it is her impressive grasp of human emotion that never fails to leave me awestruck. A moreish start to a series that is sure to keep us on the edge of our seats.

SMALL TOWN ROMANCE

One last thing, if you do fall in love with him, please go slowly. Be careful. Trust your gut and know not all things are easy. Damaged things can become beautiful if they’re placed in the right hands. —Love, Gran

A small town where pickup trucks rule, the farmer’s market is bigger than the grocery store, and just about everyone goes to church on Sunday is the last place Henley Warren expects to find herself three months after her grandmother’s death. But Gran left a list of things she needed Henley to do after she died, and fulfilling those wishes means spending a summer in the same place her mom fled from when she was only seventeen years old. With each task that is ticked off the list, events are set in motion that uncover secrets surrounding Henley’s life.

Although Henley may have arrived on the shores of Alabama’s Gulf Coast feeling alone and lost in a world without her Gran, things soon change. The small town holds more than she realized—including a broody, gorgeous, potentially dangerous guy who is always showing up when she needs him the most. Henley fears her heart isn’t ready to trust someone so unpredictable but he makes her feel things deeper than she thought possible. So, when Henley discovers the twisted, dark world he is living in, will it be too late to save her heart? Or has her heart been beyond saving from the moment he stepped out of his truck on that very first day?

HOCKEY ROMANCE

Neal “Rock” Roquemore earned his bad boy image with fights on the ice, and indifference to relationships off of it. When he’s traded to the new hockey team in Seattle, he’s not happy to be back in his hometown. He’s even less happy when a recording of him criticizing elements of the new practice facility goes viral. Especially when he finds out the architect is the only woman he’s ever loved…and walked away from.

Sarai Redlin watched the love of her teenage life walk away from her ten years ago, and she’s never forgotten the pain he caused her. Now, when she’s finally achieving her professional dream, Neal’s back and ruining everything for her again. This time, she’s older and wiser, and she’s not going to fall for him again…and there’s no way she’s going to undo all her hard work just because he doesn’t like it.

With the media and fans rallying against Sarai, Rock has no choice but to work out a compromise with her for the building design and amenities. A week on the island they both love might change everything for them again, but reality will eventually hit them hard once they’re back in Seattle. Can their love survive this time, or will they have to learn to live apart once and for all?

This is the first book in the all-new Metros Hockey series of standalone novels with interconnected characters.

BEST FRIENDS TO LOVERS

Can he make this moment last a lifetime?

It’s been three years since Padraig Collins lost his wife and since then, he’s been sleepwalking his way through each day, focusing only on work and family, while hanging out with his best friend, Emmy.

The sum equivalent of Emmy’s experience with relationships is contained within the pages of the romance novels she writes while sitting at the end of the bar at Pat’s Pub. That is if she doesn’t count the secret crush she’s been harboring for Padraig since the first day she laid eyes on him.

When Padraig realizes he’s in love with Emmy, they fall into each other’s arms. However, adversity strikes and Padraig–terrified of loving and losing again–foolishly pushes Emmy away. It will take the combined romantic efforts of the entire Collins’ family to help him win the heart of his best friend…and his second chance at happily ever after.

Ian Gallagher loves taking risks. It’s how he turned the business he’s built with his brother into a success. But even he can’t cross some rules. His best friend’s sister is strictly off-limits, but when Ellie moves to New York, he jumps at the chance to help her settle in.

One look at her, and he realizes that not flirting with her will be a lot harder than he thought, and not just because she’s stunning. He enjoys her laughter and merciless teasing. How can he stay away when all he wants is to get closer?

Ellie Cavanaugh is living her dream. She’s finally working in a Michelin starred restaurant in New York. Her plan is to get as much experience as possible before opening her own place. Kissing her brother’s best friend is definitely not part of the plan. Neither is opening up to him in ways she never did with anyone.

Ellie knows that Ian isn’t looking for forever though. After all, her brother warned her that Ian was a sworn bachelor. And if she’s honest with herself, Ellie isn’t ready for love either. She’s never let anyone in before. But she can’t help giving in to the growing bond between her and Ian, even if it means putting her heart on the line.
