Jesse
After spending the first part of my life trapped in a small town where it wasn’t okay to be a makeup-wearing boy who liked boys, I swore I’d leave and never be anything but loud, proud, and unapologetically me. I’ve kept that promise. I’m following my dreams, have an apartment with my bestie, and get to dance my nights away at one of the hottest gay bars in Portland.
The only downfall is Dane, the sexy bartender with a perma-scowl always aimed my way. The tension between us is so strong that even the clubgoers notice, and they eat that stuff up. Our boss makes us dance on the bar together every Friday night. I might shake my booty a little more with Dane just because I love getting under his skin. It’s not my fault he doesn’t know how to have any fun…but I kind of want to teach him.
Dane
I got burned bad by my last boyfriend. Thankfully, my sister, Bree, and my niece, Hailey, make my days a whole lot brighter. I’m getting back on my feet, including a decent job as a bartender. But working in a gay club makes it harder to keep to myself. No way do I want to get reeled in by another charming, pretty face and get hurt again, and definitely not by someone like Jesse, whose audacity frustrates me to no end.
So why do I want to shove him against the wall and screw that boldness right out of him?
Only…sometimes he’s pretty sweet, especially with Hailey. As we go from enemies to angry hookups to friends, our feelings are changing and moving into uncharted territory. This can’t go anywhere. Jesse and I are like oil and water; we just don’t mix…right?

FRIENDS TO LOVERS
The second the test-the-sexy-scenes offer landed in my lap, I said yes.
After all, I’ve been damn curious about a few things I’ve read in romance novels. Do buttons truly go flying across the floor when you rip off a guy’s shirt? Is staircase nookie hella hot or does it leave you with a big old bruise mark on your back? And don’t even get me started on all that panty shredding, and whether it even works.
Time to find out as I embark on Project Romance Novel Scenes Research, at the request of my hotshot book editor bestie.
All I need is a willing scene partner. Enter Tristan, my best guy friend. The witty, tell-it-like-it-is, bearded hottie volunteers for the experiment.
He’s also the guy who gave me the most devastating, toe-curling kiss of my life ten years ago. But nothing has happened since then.
And nothing will come between my panties and our friendship now since we have a plan to keep it PG.
But once the buttons start flying, all bets are off…

Devney Perry continues to impress with the wild, often painful thrills present in every single book she writes, and her latest heart-pounding adventure is no exception. Following closely on the heels of Gypsy King, we FINALLY discover what happened to Genevieve and Isaiah up in that mysterious cabin in the mountains, thus binding their fates forever. It’s the story of a young woman trying to uncover decades-old secrets that led to her mother’s violent death, all the while falling in love with a man who thinks himself unworthy of love. The twists and turns are aplenty, keeping us guessing until the VERY LAST page, but it is the simmering, slow-burning romance between the leads that takes centre stage from the start. A must read for anyone looking for a terrific page-turner that is both an intricate, layered story and a lovely romance with two very likeable people at its heart.
This beautifully written, über-angsty debut novel is one of the BEST Historical Romances I have ever read. It’s the tale of a brilliant but impoverished young suffragist and one of the first female students at Oxford University, who falls for a powerful duke with very different views and goals in life. The yearning between the characters is real and palpable, but in the eyes of their peers, they would never be of equal standing, thus a romance between them is doomed from the start. Set against an important historical backdrop of political activism and change, Evie Dunmore delivers a heroine who is selfless, fiercely independent, and principled, and this is so much more than just a story about two people finding their happily-ever-after—it’s also a compelling perspective on what it means to be a woman, a partner, and an equal, both in and out of the bedroom.
A beautifully written, poignant tale of two men who’ve had to pay a hefty price in life for who they are, but whose unexpected connection slowly frees them both from their painful pasts. When they meet, they are just two people trying hard to keep their demons at bay, but as a tentative friendship blossoms between them, and then begins to tip towards something more, they are forced to face their deepest fears and fight for happiness. An engaging love story with complex characters and relationships, there is so much to love about this book, and I adored every word.
At a time when everything in the world feels uncertain and bleak, and the safest path is to stay away from topical issues, it takes guts and heart to write a story that not only engages with some of the greatest environmental and social challenges of our time, but also touches on a range of hot topics rarely found in a genre that is supposedly all about escapism and fantasy. Luckily for us, Kennedy Ryan has both in spades. Her magnificent new duet tells the story of two people from very different backgrounds, but both destined to change the world in their own way and make it a better place. I have treasured every single novel I have ever read from this author, but this story sets a new bar in the genre for what it means to write a complex, well-rounded story that masterfully navigates political, social, and cultural realms, without ever taking away from its primary romantic plotline. Exquisitely written, meticulously researched, tender, yet oh-so steamy—this is the Mary Poppins of Contemporary Romances: practically perfect in every way.
R.S. Grey puts a fresh spin on the royal romance trope by setting her newest novel in a make-believe kingdom—a fictional theme park known as Fairytale Kingdom, home to Princess Elena, Fairytale Kingdom’s main attraction, and her love interest, His Royal Highness. But, unlike most fairy tales, there are no archetypes in this story, or villains to fight, or evil curses to break for the characters to find their happily-ever-after. This is the story of two very real and relatable people who fall in love with one another by finding home and happiness in each other’s arms. Brimming with Grey’s trademark sense of humour and wit, this light-hearted yet richly crafted tale of love, family, and a woman’s journey of letting go of self-doubt packs an emotional punch even when it’s making us giggle, quickly becoming one of my favourite R.S. Grey romances to date.
There’s something so euphoric about stumbling upon a book by chance, and then loving it SO completely and SO viscerally from the very first page, that you feel like you’ve lost a friend once it’s over. I’m not sure what caught me by surprise more—the sensuous, plush prose that simply took my breath away, the emotional depth of the characters, or the intense chemistry between them—but this story is so ‘out of the ordinary’ that every single about it is quite simply extraordinary. Set in a small English village, this is the tale of a beautiful but cynical city boy who escapes to the countryside looking for clarity and a way to gain control over his own life, but ends up falling for a bearish, soft-hearted farmer. And while this is a love story first and foremost, Talia Hibbert does a fine job at showing how mental illness can fester overtime and consume a person when they begin drifting unknowingly into the dark currents of their thoughts. She does so with empathy, authenticity, and a sense of profound optimism that leaves the reader feeling uplifted, hopeful, and maybe even a little enlightened. This is one of those books you’ll never forget, and talk all your friends into reading.
